Schneider, Joseph 1845 - 1927 | Wisconsin Historical Society

physician, b. Weigelsdorf, Silesia, Germany. He graduated from the Univ. of Wnrzburg (M.D., 1874), and did postgraduate work at the universities of Wnrzburg, Vienna, and Halle. In 1881 he migrated to the U.S. and to Milwaukee, where he practiced medicine until his death, becoming internationally known as a specialist in ophthalmology and otology. In 1890 Schneider was a delegate to the International Medical Congress in Berlin, and in 1925 was honored by the Univ. of Wurzburg with a gold medal and the honorary title of Doctor and Senator.
