N. 3rd and W. Juneau sts. In a laboratory under the sidewalk of his office at this site, in the 1870s, Dr. Senn conducted far-reaching experiments which led to international renown as the "great master of abdominal surgery." He was one of Wisconsin's greatest sur­geons, physicians, and medical pioneers, and the 49th president of the American Medical Association. Dr. Senn was a founder of the Association of Military Surgeons of the U.S.A.
