lumberman, politician, Congressman, b. Alma, Allegany County, N.Y. He was the second son of Daniel Shaw (q.v.). He moved with his parents to Wisconsin in 1856, settling in Eau Claire. He graduated from International Business College in Chicago (1871), and in 1874 entered his father's lumber firm, holding various offices in that organization until his death. A Republican, Shaw held local political offices in Eau Claire, and in 1892 was elected to Congress, serving from Mar., 1893, until his death. Biog. Dir. Amer. Cong. (1928); Columbian Biog.
