(Rep.), born May 25, 1896; raised on farm in Monticello. Educated public schools. Semi-retired; farmed with brother as partner until 1918; blacksmith, horse shoer, welder 1919-56. World War I veteran ; in Army 1918-19. Vice pres. League of Wis. Municipalities 3 years ; pres. businessmen's club; past comdr. local Amer. Legion; active in civic, church, fraternal organizations. Fire chief 1928-48; pres, grade and high school boards 1930-43; village pres. 1935-51; 2 years each selective service board, county school committee. Elected to Assembly 1956; re-elected 1958, '60, '62. Chairman of Assembly Com. on Third Reading; vice-chm. Commerce and Manufactures Com., member Agriculture Com.
