newspaperman, b. Delavan. He gained his early newspaper experience on the Delavan Republican, worked as a printer for the Stillwater (Minn.) Sun, and from 1885 to 1889 was a reporter for the St. Paul Pioneer-Press. Returning to Wisconsin in 1890, Sturtevant purchased an interest in the Waupaca Post, was editor of this newspaper (1899-1908), and, shortly before selling his interest in the Post, moved to Wausau. There, in 1907, he established the Wausau Daily Record-Herald, and was its editor from 1907 until his death. Sturtevant was president of the Wisconsin Daily Newspaper Association (1918-1920), and vice-president of the Associated Press (1919, 1920). F. L. Holmes, et al., eds., Wis.
