Legion (3 years adjutant, 9 years post commander), chm. local Boy Scouts Com.; served 2 years as dir. of county Farmers Union, chm. county Dem. Unit 1959-61. Since 1955 town chairman and member of county board (vice-chm. since 1972, also 1958-67, chm. 1968-72, and county bd corns. on finance and on higher education). Elected to assembly since 1962. Speaker pro tern 1973 and 1971.
