Terry, Earle Melvin 1879 - 1929
professor, physicist, b. Battle Creek, Mich. He graduated from the Univ. of Mich. (B.A., 1902) and the Univ. of Wisconsin (Ph.D., 1910). In 1902 he came to the Univ. of Wisconsin as an instructor in physics, and by 1928 had become professor of physics. In 1917 Terry was instrumental in establishing a station at the Univ. of Wisconsin, utilizing wireless code; he was a leader in developing a wireless telephony station at the university (1919), and is known as the founder of the university's radio station WHA.
