professor, historian, author, b. Chilton Township, Calumet County. He graduated from Lawrence College (A.B., 1896), Boston Univ. (S.T.B., 1900), did graduate work in Europe at Halle and Berlin, and graduated from the Univ. of Chicago (M.A., 1910; Ph.D., 1913). Trever was professor of Greek at Lawrence College (1905-1916), and from 1916 until his death was professor of history at that school. He was the author of History of Greek Economic Thought (1916) and the History of Ancient Civilization (1936), a widely used two-volume college text. Who Was Who in Amer.
