Warren, Lyman Marquis 1794 - 1847
fur trader; b. August 7, 1794 in Berkshire, Massachusetts, d. October 10, 1847 at La Pointe, Wisconsin; came to Lake Superior region in 1818 with his younger brother Truman and worked as a fur trader for Michel Cadotte; married Cadotte's daughter in 1821 and acquired Cadotte's business in 1823; traded for several years in Lac du Flambeau, Lac Courte Oreille and Saint Croix, working on and off with the American Fur Company; moved to Chippewa River area in 1838 and worked as a subagent to Ojibwe and operated a sawmill and farm.
