lawyer, Congressman, b. Catskill, N.Y. He moved to Wisconsin with his parents in 1850, settling on a farm near Fond du Lac. He studied law, was admitted to the bar, and set up a practice in Fond du Lac (1870). A Democrat, he was collector of internal revenue for the 3rd district of Wisconsin (1885-1887). In 1892 he was elected to Congress and served one term (1893-1895). He was a delegate to the Democratic national conventions of 1888 and 1896.
