Early Career
William Wyman was a newspaperman and politician born in New York state. He published the Canton Advertiser in New York and the Cornwall Observer in Ontario. In 1838 he moved to Wisconsin, worked briefly on the Racine Argus, and in the same year moved to Madison, where he worked as a printer on Josiah Noonan's Wisconsin Inquirer.
Political Career and Other Accomplishments
In 1839 Wyman established the Madison Express, issued this paper until 1848, and from 1850 to 1852 published the Wisconsin Statesman. In 1852 this paper was merged with the Express to become the short-lived Wisconsin Daily Palladium.
A Whig, Wyman was Dane County probate judge from 1843 until 1855. In 1855 he left Wisconsin and moved to Omaha, Nebr., where he again entered the newspaper business and became prominent in Nebraska politics.
