Curatorial Internships

 

Brief Description:

Old World Wisconsin gives students the opportunity to gain valuable educational benefits as well as professional work experience. Internships may be specialized or general depending on a student's interests and qualifications. In collaboration with the curator, accepted candidates will develop an internship experience plan with clearly defined goals. 

 

Compensation/Credit:

A stipend may be available. Academic credit can be arranged with a sponsoring college or university program.  Duration of the internship is about 10 weeks at about 40 hours a week.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Working directly with the curator in collections storage
  • Working on site on projects related to collections care
  • Assist with visitor engagement in programming
  • Work with other members of Old World Wisconsin’s Guest Experience Program Team

 

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled or recently completed a degree program in history, museum studies, or related field.
  • Ability to work independently, with effective organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with the public and have an active interest in sharing historical information with the public.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require moderate exertion, stand and walk for long periods.
  • Have transportation/vehicle and ability to drive in the state of Wisconsin.
