6-20-2018 Spend a Day on the Green at the Madeline Island Museum’s Fourth of July Celebration La Pointe, Wis. – On July 4, enjoy a true slice of Americana as you celebrate Independence Day on Madeline Island. Voted one of the best hometown Fourth of July celebrations in America, this day-long event is fun and family-friendly. “This annual Fourth of July celebration is a tradition on Madeline Island,” said Keldi Merton, site director at the Madeline Island Museum. “Each year, island residents and visitors gather on the green in front of the Museum to take part in the day’s festivities.” This day-long event starts with a festive parade that will kick off at 10:30 am from the Marina and end just past the Madeline Island Museum. After the parade, people gather on the green in front of the museum where they are treated to a special program, speeches, and community awards presented by local dignitaries. Other events are featured on the island throughout the day, culminating with fireworks off the ferry dock at sunset. The parade, speeches, music, and fireworks are free and open to the public. The Madeline Island Museum will be open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission for adults (age 18 and over) is $8, Seniors (age 65 and over) $7, Children under the age of 18 are free.
