Greenbush, Wis. – Wade House is celebrating the 150th birthday of world-renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright with a series of lectures and an exhibit focusing on Wright’s work in Wisconsin and his relationship with Sheboygan carriage collector and restoration expert Wesley W. Jung. On July 12, Wade House will feature a presentation of Keiran Murphy’s “How Do You Restore the Work of a Lifetime? Frank Lloyd Wright, the Taliesin Estate, and Taliesin Preservation.” “Taliesin was unique in that Wright used the structures on the estate as experiments, and they come from every decade of his career,” said David Warner, site director at Wade House Historic Site. “This presentation will look at the buildings on the estate, including the recently completed restoration of the large room of his house that he called “the Loggia.” Keiran Murphy has been a historical researcher for Taliesin Preservation, Inc. for nearly 25 years. She is involved in the research, preservation and interpretation of the Taliesin Estate, including five structures designed by the architect. She interprets archival images, drawings, oral histories and personal accounts for the historical research at Taliesin Preservation, Inc writes analyses of the historical development of architecturally important sites, seeks out and tracks material related to the development of these sites, and analyzes photographic materials, drawings, correspondence, land titles and more. “How Do You Restore the Work of a Lifetime? Frank Lloyd Wright, the Taliesin Estate, and Taliesin Preservation” is part of a series of monthly programs which will be offered at Wade House. The next lecture in the “Frank Lloyd Wright: A Wisconsin Original” series will take place on Thursday, August 9 at 7:00 pm and will feature Mike Lilek, a leading scholar on Frank Lloyd Wright's American System-Built Homes, presenting “An American Home by Frank Lloyd Wright.” The Wade House lecture series will take place at the Wade House Visitor Center located at W7965 Hwy. 23 in Greenbush, WI, halfway between Sheboygan and Fond du Lac. Admission to the “How Do You Restore the Work of a Lifetime? Frank Lloyd Wright, the Taliesin Estate, and Taliesin Preservation” lecture on July 12 is $5.00 per person.
