August 20, 2018 - Wisconsin Historical Society to Present Juneau Count | Wisconsin Historical Society

Join the Wisconsin Historical Society on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 6:00 pm as they present the Juneau County Historical Society with the  Reuben Gold Thwaites Award.  The presentation will take place at the Boorman House. This award recognizes the impact of the Juneau County Historical Society’s services, and the role it has played in preserving and sharing the unique history of this community. The event is open to the public and will feature readings, singing and piano playing as well as a presentation of the trophy by Christian Overland, Ruth and Hartley Barker Director of the Wisconsin Historical Society. Light refreshments will be available after the presentation.

What: Juneau County Historical Society to receive the Reuben Gold Thwaites award from the Wisconsin Historical Society. 

When: Tuesday, August 21, 2018 - 6:00 pm 

Where: Boorman House, 211 N. Union Street, Mauston 

Why: This award recognizes the impact of the Juneau County Historical Society’s services and the role it has played in preserving and sharing the unique history of this community. The Juneau County Historical Society is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to the collection, preservation and sharing of Juneau County history. The group first legally organized in 1963 and became an affiliate of the Wisconsin Historical Society the same year. The Juneau County Historical Society owns two historic properties; the Boorman House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and Stewart’s Chapel, a property in the rural Town of Lindina. The Juneau County Historical Society is working with the Wisconsin Historical Society to list this 1874 wood-frame church in the National Register of Historic Places.
