Legislative Liaison for the Wisconsin Historical Society Added to State Committee to Promote the Ratification of the 19th Amendment

Madison, Wis. - The Wisconsin Historical Society is happy to announce that Kate Easton, legislative liaison for the Society will be a part of the executive committee that was created and signed into order by Executive Order #19 by Governor Tony Evers to celebrate the centennial anniversary of Wisconsin’s ratification of the 19th Amendment.

“Kate is an excellent choice to have on this team,” said Christian Overland, Ruth and Hartley Barker Director of the Wisconsin Historical Society. “Her excitement about the importance of celebrating and educating the public on this milestone for women and the role Wisconsin played shines through her work for the Society and the citizens of Wisconsin.”

Mrs. Kathy Evers is the chairwoman of the executive committee along with 22 committee members. This new committee was created to help educate and engage the public on events and celebrations across the state. The committee will also help with planning and preparing educational activities and toolkits for kids and teachers.

The Society is also working with many groups on plans for a large celebration on June 10, 2019, where the original 19th Amendment document will be unveiled along with other collection pieces for the public to view at the State Capitol. The celebration will also include speakers and other activities celebrating the 100th anniversary of the ratification.
