Wade House Historic Site to Host a Special Program with Gary Henschel on June 13

Greenbush, Wis. - On Thursday, June 13, Wade House Historic Site will be holding a special program with special guest, Gary Henschel, Sheboygan County farmer and American Indian history expert. The event will start at 7:00 pm and Henschel will discuss the mound builders who once called Sheboygan County home. The presentation includes a slide show and artifacts from the Henschel Indian Museum collection.

"Gary Henschel's family has lived next to the Sheboygan marsh for over 160 years. They live on land that was once home to the mound builders. Gary has spent many years sharing this culture with local school children and adults alike." Jim Willaert, Curator of Interpretation and Collections for Wade House Historic Site.

This event gives guests an opportunity to see artifacts from the mound builder culture up close and learn about them from Henschel, who has spent his entire life living among the mounds on his family farm.

This event will be held at the Wade House visitor center on State Hwy. 23 in Greenbush. Cost to attend is $5 per person.

The Wade House historic site is one of 12 Wisconsin Historical Society historic sites and museums. For more information, please call 920-526-3271 or visit www.wadehouse.org.

Natives & Newcomers is a monthly program that introduces audiences to the Native American cultures and immigrant experiences of the peoples who made up early Sheboygan County. This program series is made possible by a grant from the Kohler Trust for Preservation.
