New Site Director Starts at Wade House Historic Site

Greenbush, Wis. – The Wisconsin Historical Society is pleased to welcome Alli Karrels as the new site director of Wade House Historic Site. Karrels was the previous executive director of the Deke Slayton Memorial Space & Bicycle Museum in Sparta, Wisconsin.

“Wade House is a great site with endless possibilities and I am looking forward to working with the fantastic team here to develop interpretation, enhance the visitor experience, and create unique new programs,” said Karrels.

During her time at the Deke Slayton Memorial Space & Bicycle Museum, she completed a total rebrand of the museum and developed and executed an annual week-long Space Camp for middle school students. She also secured astronaut Deke Slayton’s formula one race plane for the museum and created exhibits.

Karrels holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Fine Art from St. Norbert College and a Master of Arts Degree in Museum Studies from Johns Hopkins University.

She has been a speaker at the Local History and Historic Preservation Conference and was City Council Woman for the 5th Ward of the City of Sparta.
