Black River Falls, Jackson County, Wisconsin - The Wisconsin Historical Society announces the listing of the Franklin E. and Eva E. Keefe House in the National Register of Historic Places on February 2, 2023.

The Keefe House is one of the finest early twentieth century residences remaining in the city of Black River Falls. It was built in 1910 and features a transitional design that combines both Queen Anne and Colonial Revival stylistic elements. The residence was designed and built by James J. McGillivray, a prominent Black River Falls builder and architect. The Keefe House has remained largely unchanged throughout its 112-year history.

The Keefes purchased the house while it was still under construction and were its first occupants.  Francis Keefe operated a successful undertaking establishment and retail furniture store. He was still living in this house when he died in 1945. His wife, Eva Keefe, continued to live there until her death in 1957. Their daughter, Verna Keefe, was still living there at the time of her death in 1972.
