HOPE VI Main Street Program

The HOPE VI Main Street Program provides assistance to smaller communities developing affordable housing undertaken in connection with a Main Street revitalization effort. Obsolete commercial offices or buildings can be reconfigured into rent producing affordable housing.
Main Street area revitalization efforts seek to rejuvenate older, downtown business districts while retaining the area's traditional and historic character.
Funding Program Details
This grant can only be given to a community with:
- A population of 50,000 people or less
- 100 or fewer physical public housing units in its jurisdiction that are administered by a public housing agency for HUD
- An existing Main Street Rejuvenation effort in progress
The applicant must apply through a unit of government.
