The Port Washington Historical Society received the 2017 Reuben Gold Thwaites Trophy for Local History from the Wisconsin Historical Society. The award recognizes the impact of the Port Washington Historical Society’s services, and the role it has played in preserving and sharing the unique history of this community.

About the Port Washington Historical Society

The Port Washington Historical Society is a volunteer organization founded to preserve the city’s rich heritage for future generations. Educational programming includes quarterly historic programs open to the public, historic walking tours, quarterly newsletters, guided tours of the 1860 Lighthouse and Light Station Museum and 1852 Resource Center, joint programming with local school groups and the establishment of historic markers within the community. Volunteers respond to research requests about the history of the area and its people.
