David W. Ashum (1854 - 1927)
Physician
David W. Ashum was a physician born in Findley, Ohio. He graduated from the Eclectic Medical Institute, Cincinnati, Ohio in 1881.
After practicing medicine one year at Bay City, Michigan, he moved to Stevens Point, where he organized a lumbermen's hospital-- the Michigan and Wisconsin Hospital Company. In 1884 he moved to Eau Claire, where he founded another lumbermen's hospital. He also helped to organize and was president of the American Hospital Aid Association.
