teacher, educator, b. Baraboo. He attended the Univ. of Wisconsin, and taught in Sun Prairie and in Fort Scott, Kan. He was principal in Plymouth and superintendent of schools in Baraboo (1886-1889). He then joined the faculty of River Falls Normal School, where he also served as institute conductor and lectured before educational meetings. In 1898 he was appointed president, but in 1909 retired because of poor health. He went to Everett, Wash., where he taught for some years, returned to Milwaukee in 1924, then in 1925 again moved to Washington. He was the author of a number of stories and articles, and co- author of Twenty-five Lessons in Citizenship (1927). J. H.
