Byers, Mark Rhea 1892 - 1950 | Wisconsin Historical Society
newspaperman, columnist, b. Middletown, Ohio. He began his newspaper career as office boy for the La Crosse Tribune, and later served as editor of the La Crosse Tribune and Leader-Press (1919-1928). He was editor of the Two Rivers Reporter (1928-1937), and managing editor of the Wausau Record-Herald (1937-1950). His columns, "The Drifter" and "Foreign Affairs," were syndicated in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota newspapers. He was a contributor to national periodicals, a popular lecturer on foreign affairs, and an adviser to state Republican party leaders. F. L. Holmes, et al., eds., Wis.
