Civil War: 3rd Light Artillery
The 3rd Wisconsin Light Artillery, also known as the "Badger Battery," was organized at Racine and mustered into service on October 10, 1861. From Racine, it was ordered to Louisville, Kentucky, on January 23, 1862. During its service the Badger Battery moved through Tennessee, Mississippi, and Georgia in addition to Kentucky. It participated in the battles of Perryville, Stones River, Chickamauga, the Georgia Campaign, the Chatttanooga-Ringold Campaign, and the sieges of Corinth and Chattanooga. It mustered out on July 20, 1865. The battery lost 27 men during service. Six enlisted men were killed and 21 enlisted men by disease.
