Near Northside Businessmen's Assn.; member YMCA. Board, Amer. Legion, Disabled Amer. Veterans, AMVETS, Elks. Elected to Assembly 1952; now in 6th term. Chairman Assembly Public Welfare Com. 1959 (first Negro chairman of a Wis. legislative committee), member 1961 and '63. Member Revision Com., Civil War Centennial Comn. Author of civil rights legislation : 1957 FEPC enforcement, 1959 temporary relief for nonresidents ; in 1961 and 1963 led the fight to end discrimination in housing. Home address: 928 W.
