(Rep.), Born Town of Merton, Waukesha County, July 20, 1896; single. Educ. in county schools and has always been a close student of farming and farm problems. Owns and operates modern 300-acre dairy farm, which has been Dempsey family homestead since early pioneer days. Served on Waukesha County Board, was town chm., and has held various school and township offices. Elected to Senate 1934; reelected since 1946; now in 14th session. Committee assignments: 1969-Jt. Survey Corn, on Tax Exemptions (chm., also 1967) ; Jt. Com. on Finance (vice-chm., also 1967; mbr. 1961, 1959) ; Building Comm. (also 1967) ; Jt. Legis.
