Dietz, Carl [Petrius?] 1875 - 1957
lawyer, politician, collector, b. Newark, N.J. He studied at the German-American Academy at Rochester, N.Y., and later moved to Milwaukee where he read law and was admitted to the bar. A prominent Socialist, he was Milwaukee city comptroller (1910-1912) and alderman (1918-1948). An avid antique collector, Dietz possessed the world's largest collection of material relating to the history of the typewriter. He presented this collection to the Milwaukee Public Museum.
