businessman, b. McGrawville, N.Y. He moved west in 1849 and settled at Green Bay, where he became a prominent boat owner and operator on Lake Winnebago and the Fox River. In 1861 he moved to Gills Landing, Waupaca County, where he built a tannery and conducted a commission business. Moving again in 1868, he settled in Racine and engaged in the lumber business. A Republican, he was state assemblyman from Waupaca County (1865), and mayor of Racine (1872, 1873, 1875). Oshkosh Weekly Times, Oct. 6, 1877; Colls. State Hist. Soc. Wis., 8 (1879); U.S. Biog.
