lawyer, politician, b. Platteville. He graduated from Platteville Normal School (1870). In 1871 he moved to Manitowoc where he taught school, studied law, and was admitted to the bar. A Republican, he was state assemblyman (1881-1882, 1885-1886) and state attorney general (1887-1891). In 1893 he moved to Milwaukee where he practiced law, and represented his district in the state assembly (1907-1910, 1913-1914), the last term running as fusion candidate on the Democratic ticket. In the legislature Estabrook was the author of the law creating farmers' institutes and the law requiring examination for admission to the state bar, and was instrumental in securing anti-sweat shop measures and tenement-house reforms. He was the editor of several law compilations, and helped organize and serve as head of the Wisconsin Historical Commission. Wis. Blue Book (1913); J. R. Berryman, ed., Bench and Bar of Wis.
