lawyer, politician, b. Lebanon, N.H. He graduated from Chambersburg (Pa.) Law School, was admitted to the New York bar, and began to practice law in Buffalo. In 1840 he moved to Wisconsin, settling at Lake Geneva. A Democrat, he was a delegate to the state constitutional convention of 1847-1848 and to the Democratic national convention of 1848. He was state assemblyman (1851), and Wisconsin attorney general (1852--1854). Estabrook was appointed attorney general for Nebraska Territory by President Pierce, and served in this capacity from 1855 to 1859. After moving to Nebraska, he played a prominent role in the politics of that state, and was Nebraska's territorial delegate to Congress (Mar. 1859-May 1860). Biog. Dir. Amer. Cong. (1928); M. M.
