lawyer, politician, b. Newtown, Ind. He moved to Oconto in 1867, was admitted to the bar, and settled in Marinette in 1870. He served as deputy U.S. district attorney for several years, was instrumental in founding Marinette County, and was its first district attorney. A Republican, he was state assemblyman (1883-1886), and was speaker of the assembly in 1885. He was a delegate to the Republican national convention (1888).
