Congregational clergyman, b. Waterloo. He graduated from Lawrence Univ. (now College) in 1871, and Boston Univ. (1876). He was ordained in the Methodist Church (1876) and served various pastorates in Wisconsin until 1886, when he became pastor of the First Congregational Church in Appleton. After serving as pastor in Peoria, Ill. (1897-1906), he returned to his pastorate in Appleton. In 1917 he resigned this post to serve as mayor of Appleton, and in 1918 retired to Lake Mills. He was a prominent prohibitionist, and was a trustee of Lawrence College, Milwaukee-Downer College, and Northland College (Ashland). His twin brother, HENRY FAVILLE, was also a graduate of Lawrence Univ. (1871) and Boston Univ. (1876). He was ordained in the Methodist Church in 1880, and held various pastorates in Wisconsin. In 1888 he became pastor of the First Congregational Church in La Crosse and held this position until his retirement in 1913. B. F. Bryant, ed., Memoirs of La Crosse Co. (Madison, 1907); F. N.
