Fox, Albert Charles 1878 - 1934 | Wisconsin Historical Society

Catholic priest, university president, b. Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Xavier Univ., Cincinnati (A.B., 1896) and St. Louis Univ. (M.A., 1903). In 1898 he joined the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), and in 1910 was ordained a priest in the Roman Catholic Church. He was president of Campion College, Prairie du Chien (1918-1922), and of Marquette Univ. (1922-1928). During his administration at Marquette a science building, law building, student union, high school, and stadium were added to the university plant. In 1925 he instituted the Marquette Univ. award for civic distinction. He held offices and memberships in several national and regional educational organizations and committees. R. N.
