insurance executive, b. Lowell, Ind. He moved with his parents to Milwaukee in 1883 and attended public schools and business college. As a young man he worked as a railway telegrapher, but in 1895 turned to the life insurance business. He was instrumental in organizing The Old Line Life Insurance Co. of America (1910), and was its president (1910-1933) and chairman of the board of directors (1933-1935).
