tanner, b. Osterwieck, Germany. He migrated to the U.S., and in 1855 to Milwaukee, where he was employed as a tanner. In 1858 he established a tannery with Albert Trostel under the firm name of Trostel and Gallun. After 1885 Gallun continued the business as the A. F. Gallun and Sons Corporation; the company became one of the four largest concerns in the U.S. specializing in the production of calf leather.
