newspaperman, b. Bonaparte, Iowa. He was educated at Cornell Univ. (1875- 1879). After working briefly in Washington, D.C., he returned to Iowa, where he became editor and later co-publisher of the Dubuque Times. In 1883 he moved to Minneapolis, where he worked as an editor on various newspapers, and founded and published the Minneapolis Times (1889-1890). He was later editor of the Detroit (Mich.) Tribune, and from 1894 to 1901 held editorial positions with various newspapers, including the Washington, in such organizations as the Wisconsin Christian Education Council, the National Reform Association, and the International Sunday School Council.
