lawyer, b. Madison. He graduated from the Univ. of Wisconsin (B.A., 1877; B.L., 1878). He was admitted to the bar (1878) and practiced law in Madison (1879-1887). In 1887 he was made a claim agent for the Wisconsin Central R.R. Recognized as a tax and insurance expert, he served as assistant general solicitor for the railroad and later was general attorney for the line's receivers. In 1908 he severed his connection with the Wisconsin Central and opened a private law practice in Milwaukee.
