Griswold, Hattie [Tyng] 1840 - 1909
author, poet, b. Boston, Mass. She moved with her family to Columbus, Wis., in 1848 and began to contribute articles to newspapers at the age of 15. In 1863 she married Eugene S. Griswold. Among her many works was a book of poetry, Apple Blossoms (1874), and The Home Life of Great Authors (1886), a two-volume work that was originally a series of letters to the Chicago Tribune. She was an ardent suffragist and reformer, and her numerous articles on reform problems appeared in various Wisconsin newspapers. She was president of the Wisconsin Woman's Suffrage Association in 1884, and continued to write and live in Columbus until her death. F. E. Willard and M. A.
