Hanks, Stanley Charles 1872 - 1945 | Wisconsin Historical Society

lawyer, realtor, b. Madison. A brother of Lucien M. Hanks (q.v.), he graduated from the Univ. of Wisconsin (1894) and Columbia Univ. law school (1896). Hanks practiced law in Madison for several years, and was manager of Gisholt Machine Co. (1904-1910). In 1910 he organized the Lakewood Land Co., which concentrated primarily on commercial property, and at the time of his death was one of Wisconsin's most widely known realtors. He was an organizer of the Madison Real Estate Board, and served as its president (1916), and was also vice-president of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, president of the Wisconsin Real Estate Board, and vice-president of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (1941).
