spokesman for Populist Party, president of Ashland College (Ohio) 1883-1885, editor of Labor Advocate in Oshkosh; b. Ohio in 1858 and moved to Oshkosh in 1893; organized labor unions and advocated for the workingman; ran for lieutenant governor in 1894 but became suddenly ill and died.
