physician; born in Wales in 1851, he immigrated alone to the U.S. at age 19. He worked in drug stores and as a pharmacist in Utica NY, Evanston IL, Savannah GA, and Racine WI, before undertaking his education at Rush Medical College in Chicago and achieving his M.D. in 1878 at the University of Iowa. He opened his medical practice in Randolph in 1887, retiring in about 1913. He died in 1928 at age 76. Of Dr. Jones' three surviving sons, one became a doctor and took over his father's practice, another earned a degree in pharmacy at UW-Madison and owned and operated a drug store in Randolph, and the other served as village clerk, president, and mayor. His two daughters married a Minneapolis architect and a Randolph bank president. A collection of his family photographs is online in Wisconsin Historical Images.
