merchant, politician, Congressman, b. Buxton, York County, Maine. He moved to Berlin, Wis., in 1852, and in 1855 settled in Pine River where he operated a dry-goods, grocery, and general merchandise store. A Republican, he was state senator (1863-1864), and in 1874 was elected to Congress and served one term (Mar., 1875-Mar., 1877). Defeated for re-election in 1876, he returned to his business pursuits in Pine River.
