manufacturer, b. Kraiburg, Germany. He graduated from the Polytechnic Institute, Munich, Germany, and migrated to the U.S. in 1906. He worked for a number of years in Chicago, and in 1924 moved to Fond du Lac to assume the duties of general manager of the Giddings and Lewis Machine Tool Co. He was president of that company (1929-1945), and chairman of the board from 1945 until his death. Under his leadership the firm became a leading manufacturer of high-power precision, horizontal-boring, drilling, and milling machines. Kraut was also a director of the Commercial National Bank of Fond du Lac, and of the Wisconsin Manufacturers Association. Fond du Lac Commonwealth-Reporter, Dec. 3, 1941, Dec. 26, 1947; W. A.
