pea canner, b. Bristol, Pa. He came to Manitowoc in 1875 to grow seed peas for the family firm of D. Landreth&Co. in Pennsylvania. His experiments with packing peas in Wisconsin led to the construction of the Manitowoc cannery in 1887, which was the first commercial cannery in the state. Three years later the Albert Landreth Company built a branch plant in Sheboygan. These canneries used the Lakeside label, and Lakeside peas were distributed in many domestic and foreign markets.
