Lovell was not born in Wisconsin, but we claim him because he was raised in Milwaukee and he attended the University of Wisconsin before transferring to the U.S. Military Academy. At the time this photograph was taken, Lovell had flown in space three times: Gemini 7, Gemini 12, and Apollo 8, the first manned spacecraft to be launched by a Saturn V. |
