Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the United States (1977-1981), was born in Plains, Georgia on October 1, 1924. After serving as an officer in the Navy, he entered Georgia state politics in 1962, and was elected Governor eight years later. In 1974, Carter announced that he would run for U.S. President. Campaigning against incumbent Gerald Ford, Carter won the November, 1976 presidential election. |
