Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. This school is typical of the school built throughout the city that included all of the modern features, such as large gymnasiums, auditoriums, graded classrooms, etc. that have continued to be important today. Beginning in 1929, and into the 1930s with the help of the WPA program, Janesville's school facilities were modernized and met the city's needs until the "baby-boom" generation forced another era of school building in the late 1950s and 1960s. |
