McCarthy's Second Campaign
Image
Campaign poster for Joseph R. McCarthy's campaign for circuit judge. McCarthy was considered an underdog in this race, but he campaigned successfully by drawing attention to the incumbent's age. At age 30 McCarthy was Wisconsin's youngest circuit judge. The judicial race was officially non-partisan, but it was well-known that two years before when McCarthy ran for district attorney he was an active Democrat.
