Head and shoulders oval studio portrait of Thore Knudson, a musician in Company E, 15th Wisconsin Infantry, in a dark suit and tie with a GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) membership badge. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He held residence in Berry, Wisconsin. On December 7, 1861, he enlisted in La Crosse, Wisconsin and was mustered into service at Madison, Wisconsin on December 20, 1861, at the age of 24. He mustered out with Company E on December 20, 1864, at Chattanooga, Tennessee.
